Cabin Path Lake in Spring
The world of art has allowed us to meet some wonderful people. Two are Sarah and Gayland. They are a married
couple who own and manage a beautiful wildlife preserve. My wife and I have spent time just relaxing on the porch of the cabin while fellowshipping with our friends. And as we talked, birds serenaded us in the background. At other times, I've had the privilege of teaching watercolor classes in the building they call "The Gathering Place."
Every day, Sarah takes photographs at The Cabin Path.
I'm always appreciative of her work. But,I can't help anticipating one particular subject, her photos of the lake. I tease her about being the "Queen of Reflections" because she captures them so beautifully. In the spring of 2012, she out did herself though. On a misty spring morning with the native azaleas in bloom, she took a picture of the end of the lake including the dock and canoe. I fell in love with the photo and broke one of my rules, I never develop a painting based on someone else's photography. With her permission, this painting came to be and I gladly give Sarah Crutchfield credit for the photo on which it is based.
