This is one of the pieces of my artwork that developed from a

group of photos taken of the birds in our woods.  The Red Belly

is one of four different woodpeckers that visit us.  My wife and

I delight in this particular variety, although it is slightly

mis-named, having red on the head rather than the belly.

  There is something special about the way he holds his head

while taking the time to look around the yard.
