Too Little, Too Late
While I am a Southerner, I am also a child of the Southwest,
being born and raised in Oklahoma. And periodically, I hear an
inner voice telling me to return to my roots for at least a short
time period. I do truly love the times I return. Oklahomans are
marvelous people. They are open and honest and never forget
their history. They are also very resilient. I think all those
qualities spoke to me when I saw an old deserted farmhouse on
a hill west of Oklahoma City. I don't know anything about the
people who tried to farm the land around the old house. And
yet, I know them well from watching some of my own family
battle the same elements. My hope is that this painting speaks
of their courage even when they lost the battle.
Too Little, Too Late is a watercolor, painted on 14" x 11"
300# cold press paper. The original is not for sale, but there are a few giclee prints.
