236
On the various trips that my wife and I take seeking inspirational
ideas for a painting or drawing, I don't normally have a prefixed
idea of a particular subject. There have been a couple of
exceptions, though and "236" is the result of one of those
instances. For several trips, I looked for old mailboxes. I'm not
sure of why I wanted to find them, I just did. And, I found
several that were close to what I wanted to paint, but were not
quite right. Then, on one of our trips to North Carolina, I found
this wonderful collection of old and new mailboxes which
resulted in this painting.
236 is a watercolor, painted on 22" x 15" 300# cold
press paper. The original is not for sale, private collection.
